BC Heli Mountain Adventure – Lodge to Lodge

Double the adventure with a mountain lodge-to-lodge trip!

Designed in the European tradition, this decadent trip is an incredible opportunity to experience the best of both worlds in six days so you can get the most out of your mountain adventure.

Equal parts excitement and relaxation, you’ll spend the first three days living it up draped in comfort and cradled by the ultimate mountain playground. Our first lodge is the ideal basecamp as you venture where few get to tread. Legendary hikes, two via ferratas, glacier vistas and so much more are all up for exploration.

Then, you’ll heli-hop to your next mountain lodge and settle into awe at the immense Bugaboo spires reaching for the sky. Spend the next three days exploring glacial lakes, expansive ice fields and hulking granite towers as you hike, bask and climb as much or as little as you like.

When you’ve had all the mountain adventure you can handle, come back to the valley for bikes, stand up paddle boards, a soak in the hot tub, or a sunny deck cocktail.  In the Bugaboos, it’s always “Happy Hour”!

Itinerary at a Glance

• Enjoy a scenic private shuttle through the glorious Canadian Rocky Mountains from Calgary or Banff to the helipad south of Golden
• Take a stunning helicopter flight into our first mountain lodge. Try not to max out all your memory cards on your camera just yet!
• Check into the lodge and have a healthy lunch
• Helicopter safety briefing and afternoon adventure
• Daily apres adventure menu of hot tub, massage, wine and dining
• Wake up with morning stretching (and coffee!)
• Hearty breakfasts, daily hikes with lunches in the field
• Helicopters bring us to stunning vistas and activity launches (hiking, via ferratas) and transport our gear for us.
• After 6 days of fun, enjoy one last heli-flight to meet our shuttle
• Transfer back to Banff or Calgary International Airport for flights home

• All scheduled heli- flights are included (transfers in/out of lodges, and transport to daily activity locations) as well as private shuttle to and from Banff or Calgary to the helipads

What to Expect on the BC Heli Mountain Adventure

Two distinct landscapes in one phenomenal trip – and you get to immerse yourself in the highlights of both. Classic, relaxed, family-style, adventurous or all of the above. Your guides will plan each day’s excursions according to your preferred activity types and ability.

Day One:

Meet early and transfer to our heli-pad for our first flight together. Once checked in, we will become acquainted with our new home in the mountains and after a sumptuous lunch, we take flight again to explore our new mountain oasis. After an afternoon of activity and breathtaking scenery, we descend into the decadence of the lodge for apres festivities: soak in the hot tub, relax into a massage, enjoy gourmet family-style dining and evening toasts celebrating the magic we are in.

Each day and evening we will explain different activity options for the following day and will always take our cues from your desires of relaxation or appetite for adventure!

Days Two & Three:

Honour your body with some dynamic stretching before enjoying a hearty breakfast to fuel the belly and please the soul.  We will pack a lunch to go and set flight on to your next alpine hike or via ferrata. Soak in mountain views as you break for the best picnic spots ever.  Afternoons hold opportunity to sample the apres menu of delights.

Day Four:

Hiking towards Bugaboo Lodge: Wake up with a morning stretch, devour another amazing breakfast and then prepare your gear to be transferred to the next lodge and keep only what you need for another spectacular day in the field. Groups will fly into the mountains, and start hiking towards your next castle in the sky: the Bugaboo lodge.

Days Five & Six:

By now you know the routine: Get limber with a morning stretch, (or enjoy a sleep in), have another coffee and then fuel-up with a breakfast of champions.  Pack lunches for a mountain picnic and take flight for our adventures of the day! 4-5pm we return to our new home away from home and indulge in the tastes and comforts we have become so accustom to!

Day Seven:

After breakfast a casual morning of packing up and then sharing heartfelt “see you laters” (you know you will be back).  You will have to pry yourself away from this mountain paradise, as we escort you on the last heli flight back to the pad, and then transfer to Banff for continued travel or ride in a private coach bus right to Calgary International Airport (YYC) for your flight home. We recommend guests do not book flights until after 6pm MT.

Activities:

In the field:

Heli-hiking – Let the art of flight help us access jaw-dropping and isolated landscapes.  Expansive vistas are the norm and you can explore further with walks that range from casual strolls with mountain-view picnics to challenging hikes on through alpine terrain.

Via Ferrata – “The Iron way”: a means of travel developed in Italy during WW2 to move swiftly around and over mountainous terrain.  A series of fixed stairs, handholds, bridges and anchors set throughout the mountain and allow us to reach places beyond what we could have ever imagined! No previous climbing experience is necessary.  If you can climb a ladder, you can do a via ferrata course!

From the lodges:

Biking and stand up paddle boards are available as are hot tubs where you can relax.  Or play games in the lounge and swap stories of your mountain tales.  Bring your art kit and make your own masterpiece, pack your camera for photography shoots – the mountains are always showing new colours and profiles.

Massage is also available to sooth your muscles and relax your mind (not included in package).

Additional details

Single supplement is available by request on a space-available basis, depending on the lodge and the number of nights in your stay. As a solo traveller you may book on a twin-share basis, and we will attempt to match you with a same-gender roommate. If we are unable to do so, you will not be charged for the upgrade to single occupancy
