New for 2026, ROAM is thrilled to offer a heli skiing experience like no other. Imagine 648,000 acres of untouched terrain in the remote and breathtaking beauty of northwestern British Columbia. Imagine 8 skiers, and 2 A Star helicopters cycling run after perfect run of untouched powder. Then imagine returning each afternoon to apres ski, sauna and then chef prepared dinner overlooking the snow-capped Coastal range before tucking in to your own cozy cabin for a deep, restful sleep. Now imagine doing that again and again and again. Each day a new slice of white heaven.
Gold Rush Heli Skiing is located in the remote gold rush town of Atlin, BC, a mere two-hour shuttle south of Whitehorse, YT yet remarkable easy to get to from Vancouver, Calgary or Juneau, Alaska. With a tenure that stretches from Atlin Lake west to the Alaska border and north towards the Yukon and encompassing 2 glaciers and the massive Juneau Icefield, you get the best of all worlds: Alaska’s heavy snowfall, BC’s interior blower powder and the Yukon’s clear skies and sunny days.
Many ROAM guests share our belief that traveling in small groups is the best way to travel. At Gold Rush, this means there will be 4 guests + 1 lead guide for each ski group. You fly together and you ski together while your guides arrange the program and terrain selection to better suit the snow conditions and abilities of your group. No pressure, just fun. We cater to a maximum of 8 guests each trip and our Private Programs offer up to 4 guests in their own group with their own designated helicopter.
With 5- and 7-day options available, and activities to keep you busy if your legs need a day of rest, this is a remarkable opportunity to explore a unique and timeless landscape in classic ROAM style.

What to Expect on the BC Heli Ski Adventure
Sample Itinerary
Trip itinerary may vary based on snow conditions, weather conditions, fitness levels and skiing abilities of participants, and/or the recommendations of your Mountain Guide and the ROAM Adventures team. Whether you are an intermediate, or advanced skier, this itinerary can be adapted to the groups’ skill level, and is customizable for a variety of abilities.
Day One – Arrive in Whitehorse
A ROAM representative will meet you at the airport and once we’ve stowed your gear, shuttle south into BC for the scenic 2-hour ride to Moose Hill Lodge in Atlin, BC. Check in to your private cabin overlooking Atlin Lake and with a scenic view of the snowcapped mountains beyond – your playground for the next few days. Once settled, we’ll get you fitted for your ski gear then enjoy drinks and dinner in the main lodge. You’ll be hard-pressed to ignore the excitement as you snuggle into your bed knowing endless vertical awaits.
Days Two to Four or Six
After a delicious and energy-packed breakfast, we’ll head over to the heli port. On our first morning, we’ll provide brief but informative avalanche training with your ACMG certified ski guides then we’ll board the helicopters for a short flight to the staging point within the tenure. Flying across Atlin Lake and into the mountains in your A Star helicopter, you’ll begin to understand the massive region in which you’ll be skiing. From the staging point, your group will be air lifted to the terrain that has been chosen by your guide to match your abilities. Run after run, the helicopter will pick you up and drop your group on a new slope. While you ski down, the A Star will collect the other group and so the cycle continues until we break for lunch. After a warming and nutritious lunch fireside, we spend the afternoon exploring new terrain and gaining confidence in the mountain conditions. At the end of the day, as the light begins to fade, our second helicopter returns to bring both groups back to the lodge. Exhausted, jubilant and with a mountain of memories, you can kick back or hit the sauna to work out those tired muscles before another delicious creation by Chef Mandy. Then it’s off to bed to ready yourself for another day.
Optional Activities
For those that need a day to rest their powder muscles, we offer guided excursions snowmobiling, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. Or perhaps a walking tour of the quaint shops in Atlin, mere minutes away from the lodge.
Day Five or Seven
On the last day of your BC Heli Skiing Adventure you’ll check out of your cabin before boarding the helicopter for one last morning in the mountains. Upon returning to the heli port, we’ll have one last meal together before hopping on the shuttle for the return drive to Whitehorse.
Safety awareness and training
Adventurous outdoor activities, particularly in the mountains, have inherent risks. While these risks can never be removed entirely, they can be minimized. At ROAM, our aim is to provide you with a thrilling holiday, directed with maximum attention to your safety and the safety of others. We don’t want you to just blindly follow our indications; we take pride in providing you the opportunity to learn mountain skills, and to understand potential hazards, how to minimize risk, and how to cope with an incident should it occur.
All mountain activities require appropriate clothing and equipment. This is to ensure preparedness for quickly changing weather conditions, varying activities, and to take into consideration the different ability levels of each participant. Each trip participant should carry a small personal backpack containing a lightweight waterproof jacket, and the appropriate amount of water and food for the length and difficulty of the activity.
