ROAM trips are fun, scenic, offer invigorating activities and have a healthy focus on good food and wine. Our California Dreaming is no exception to this rule. This action-packed week visits the rolling hills and verdant valleys of Napa County, explores Yosemite National Park and challenges California’s best whitewater on the Tuolumne River, all in less than a week.
Napa is stunning, lyrical, elegant and sophisticated. With its rolling hills, evergreen-capped mountainsides and lulling rivers, the landscape delivers surprises at every glance. However, Napa is best known as the “epicurean capital” of the USA as the restaurants and wineries rival anything in Europe. On our trip, we’ll e-bike to the tasting rooms and enjoy a range of outstanding eateries while hanging in Napa’s hippest downtown hotel.
First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. On our trip, we’ll basecamp in style out of Rush Creek Lodge. The first new lodge in the area in more than 25 years, Rush Creek features a contemporary, rustic sensibility inspired by the breathtaking expanse of nature surrounding its 20-acre wooded hillside setting. There’s plenty of options for exploring the Sierras ranging from biking or hiking the Yosemite Valley, seeing Yosemite’s many waterfalls, walking among the Giant Sequoias, visiting Granite Gorge or hiking to North Dome or Half Dome.
Perhaps the highlight of this multi-sport is our 2 day/ 1 night adventure down the Tuolumne River. Anyone with a thirst for adventure can participate and first-timers will be amazed at the culinary delights we can provide in our riverside camp, complete with microbrew beers and excellent pairings. A night under the stars in the High Sierra’s is something otherworldly and not to be missed.
