ROAM Ski Adventures
ROAM was founded in the mountains of Western Canada so we are no stranger to all manner of winter sports. Having headquartered in the Coast Mountains of Whistler fame, the Selkirks in Nelson, and now the BC-side of the Rockies, we know a thing or two about downhill, backcountry and Nordic skiing.
The practice of skiing and snowshoeing has had a rather mercurial past. While using skis and snow shoes as a means of transportation over snow is well documented, with snowshoes dating back over 4000 years, their popularity as winter pursuits is only comparatively recent. In the 19th century, as the need to venture into the snowy landscapes for hunting purposes declined, both skis and snowshoes began to be used for enjoyment. Then nearly 100 years later, in 1936, the first chairlift was installed in Idaho, marking the beginning of the alpine ski culture.
Recently, as equipment and technology has improved, both ski touring and snowshoeing have gained a strong resurgence and the joy of venturing onto virgin snow is steadily being rediscovered. Whatever your winter passion, be it technical ski mountaineering, steep couloirs, or fun lift-serviced terrain, ROAM never fails to delight. Our trips are selected for the beauty, uniqueness, likelihood of favorable conditions and weather as well as some hidden gems that you might not find on your own.
Our ski programs allow you to explore untouched corners of magical terrain and new spins on seamlessly orchestrated classics. Whether it's backcountry or on-piste, you can bet ROAM will deliver the finest on-mountain and après ski adventures one can find. Our trade mark is creativity, sensibility, fun and a little bit (or a lot ) of decadence to round things out perfectly.
