Paragliding is the quiet kind of freedom—the kind that lifts you without rushing you. One moment you’re standing on solid ground, heart humming with anticipation, and the next you’re floating, suspended between earth and sky, carried by nothing but air and trust.
Up there, the world slows down. Roads turn into ribbons, worries shrink to specks, and time stretches wide. The wind becomes a companion, guiding you gently, reminding you that flight doesn’t have to be loud or fast to be exhilarating. There’s joy in the simplicity of it: no engine, no walls, just you, the wing above, and the endless blue.
Paragliding awakens something ancient—the human urge to soar, to see the world from a new perspective. It’s a blend of calm and thrill, serenity and awe. Each glide is a quiet celebration of balance, of letting go, of being fully present in a moment that feels both fleeting and infinite. And when your feet touch the ground again, you don’t just land—you return changed, carrying the sky with you, already longing for the next flight.
Despite not using an engine, paraglider flights can last many hours and cover many hundreds of kilometres, though flights of one to five hours and covering some tens of kilometres are more the norm. By skillful exploitation of sources of lift, the pilot may gain height, often climbing to altitudes of a few thousand metres.
Invermere, BC, on the warm, western side of the Canadian Rockies is a famous location for paragliding and has excellent sites for learning. It is also home to Max Powers, a Red Bull sponsored paraglider, who is an excellent instructor and guide. ROAM has teamed up with Max for an unprecedented 8 day/7 night program for beginners to learn the art of paragliding (and get your certification well under way).
The first 5 days will be the P1 Paraglide rating program which involves a fun mix of classroom theory, ground school and your first flights. The second part of our week includes the P2 Novice rating. Of course, your entire stay will be seamlessly organized, ROAM style, with great accommodations, meals, drinks, guides, equipment and after class activities.

8-Day Storm Chasing Expedition – Tornado Alley, USA
May 22-29, 2026
$9995 US pp
View the Storm Chasing Itinerary
This Storm Chasing Expedition is a carefully designed journey into the heart of Tornado Alley, USA, offering rare, front-row access to some of the most powerful weather systems on Earth. Guided by professional storm chasers, guests travel in customized storm-chasing vehicles across vast open landscapes where supercell thunderstorms and dramatic atmospheric events unfold in real time.
This expedition operates during a carefully selected window between May 1 and June 15, the peak period for severe weather development in Tornado Alley. During this time, atmospheric conditions are most favorable for the formation of powerful storm systems, providing the best opportunity to experience the full scope of the storm-chasing process.
Blending adventure travel with real-world meteorology at the highest level, this intimate and highly personalized expedition offers exceptional access, expert guidance, and a deeper understanding of severe weather — an unforgettable immersion into one of nature’s most powerful and unpredictable environments.
Each day begins with an in-depth forecast briefing, where atmospheric models, radar, and satellite imagery are analyzed to identify the most promising storm targets. From there, the group sets out in customized storm-chasing vehicles, traveling across the open plains as conditions evolve — often crossing multiple states over the course of the expedition.
Time in the field is spent positioning strategically to safely observe supercell thunderstorms, dramatic cloud formations, expansive lightning displays, and — when conditions align — tornadoes. Locations are chosen with experience and precision, prioritizing visibility, safety, and real-time storm behavior.
In the evening, we’ll return to our comfortable lodgings to review the day’s storms and plan for the next one. It’s a dynamic experience unlike any other!
